My progression and 4 contemporary artist

The ideas for my senior show work have come together well this week. I worked on coming up with different scenes in my head and have written them down to start planning out how I will photograph them. I am considering how I want to light them, where they will be taking place and who I will use for models. This weekend I did get a chance to work on one photo. I also have 4 other photos in mind that I want to make. I hope to be be making a new photo a week if not 2.

My Inspiration 


Salvaterra style has an Italian cinema feel. I came across her series "Her" which is a self-portrait series. The series shows how she is getting older and she doesn't recognize the person staring back at her. So she turns the camera around on herself and examines the psychology of her age. With me doing self-portrait series also it was nice to see how she approached her topic even though we have 2 completely different ideas.
 Philip-Larca diCorcia

diCorcia is known for his documentary style mixed with the fictional world of cinema. He creates a link between reality, fantasy and desire. He is know for his series such as Heads, Hustlers and Lucky Thirteen. I am attracted to his tableaus style of photography and I hope to capture that cinematic feel to my photos as well.


Nina Roeder is a German photographer that I came across on the internet. Her series Mutter Schuhe caught my attention. The series shows three generations of women in her family, her grandmother, mother and herself. She photographs them in the same setting and they are wearing the same clothing that ties them all together.



This body of work by Somoroff and Sander is about observation and interoperation. In one photo you will see Sander's original and then you will see Somoroff's removal of the person. Absents of the subject allows you to revisit the work and see what his intent is. Samoroff has also brought the art of manipulation into focus. This leaves the viewer to ask what is real and what is fake.
