Formulating Ideas
My work from the past few semesters has focused mostly on animals and I plan on continuing that theme this semester. So far I am leaning more specifically exploring how animals and humans share similar qualities. I am still working out ideas on how I want to display these ideas so I have been doing some sketching this weekend in between working. I will also be using this theme in my drawing studio class so that I can possibly use those drawings for show if necessary.
Where to now?
If I hold to Shane’s advice of starting with you last best
image, then I should continue this track of combining stanza of hymns with
imagery that are faithful to the memory of when they were most important to me.
I think I’ll try something a little different now. I want to try to combine
photo imagery with these words. I need to be careful with my choices as far as
color, font, and everything else to avoid the end result looking commercial.
A Movie
In senior show I would like to create a short film about the prequile to White Out on how the white angle died or possibly another zombie film or maybe something new. An addition to the film I would like to create movie posters with it, but haven't fully decided on it. Before I decide on a project I would like to work with CS6 more and also iMovie.
Beginning of the process
After showing my pieces, I immediately began to think about why I incorporate the intricate and abstract designs in my images. I discovered that creating these designs are therapy; a way to pretty much vomit all the feelings I have about life. I use them to make a connection between the physical and mental state of my views on certain subjects. I don't feel like I blatantly need to use direct symbols to create a metaphor. I have so many things running through my mind, so using these texturized and organic designs encompass everything I am trying to say in an image when it is difficult to find a tangible explanation. I know I also use them to focus my ideas and use it as a thinking process to organize my thoughts. When I just sketch, I look for pictures in my designs to come up with ideas; such as the Vulture print. I will continue to search more for in depth reasons and decide if I want to incorporate them in my pieces for senior show.
Trying to Sculpt my Future
This week I have started on one of the sculptures that I have sketched out for this semesters plans. I've collected all of my supplies and have started building; I'm making a large dental crown out of porcelain clay, after firing the clay I plan on glazing it to look like it has started to decay. I got the idea when I went to the dentist for the first time in 4 years and found out I got my first cavity. While I was there I spoke to the girl who was cleaning my teeth and I was telling her that recently I've been struggling with what I'm going to do once I graduate, she mentioned me looking into being a dental lab technician, which I've been looking into. I just want to find my place.
Ideas
I've been brainstorming ideas that I wanted to do for senior show. I know that I want my senior show and photo seminar class to go hand and hand. Whichever I decide to do for my photo seminar series, I want to display that as my senior show. There is one idea for a body of photography work that I would really like to see come together as a series. I want to do something with an urban look, all female subjects, and very old grungy locations. This series is going to build from the one I finished my photo 3 class with.

Browsing and Thinking
I have been thinking of what I wanted to create and bring to my senior show a while before I enrolled in the class. With the start of my other classes, I used my observations and criteria given to allow myself ideas for what I can possibly do. Most of what I'm dealing with this semester is drawing and printmaking and most likely I will want to use both in the show.

This weekends adventures
For this semester I want to continue to build on the work I did in photo 3. For this weekend I am taking a trip to the mountains and I figured this would be a great opportunity to photography more tableaus for my series. I plan on using women as my subject matter like most of my previous photos have have. I might use males in the photos to add an element of tension. As usual I will be looking for places of interest and that have unique lighting situations. Hopefully while I am taking pictures this week I will come up with something that tie my series together. I will also be trying to figure out how I will want to present my photos in the senior show.
