Jasper Johns- Johns uses aquatint on chine-colle, but the concept that draws me to this artist is the use of disguised figures in the abstract shapes. It is has a linear composition, but also has a 3-d aspect that I found to be useful in drawing my piece.
Sarah Sze- The Strange Attractor is attractive to me because it looks like a 3-d creation of my abstract drawings. Sze uses mixed media, but the arrangement of the objects reminds me of my pieces if they were put into a physical form. Other pieces of her work are similar in style, so in my opinion she wants the viewer to actually look at everything and not just glance at it.
Peter Bardazzi- I found this artist on Pinterest and I was attracted to the geometric content and metaphysical relationships. He is an a abstract expressionists and I find a certain connection to this artists' work. It is similar to other pieces I have created and the same I would like to continue.
Wassily Kandinsky- Kandinsky is the first abstract expressionist that I was influenced by. He is not too contemporary, but I believe he influenced many contemporary expressionist, including me. His forms are more loose and less rigid, but still contain the ambiguous images that can create a recognizable image.
