2nd Post

Since coming up with a concept and presenting it in class, I've started coming up with my female subjects that I want to be apart of my series. I've also started talking with them, and bringing together ideas that I could do for those individuals. My hopes were to meet with 3+ of my subjects this weekend, but schedules didn't permit. I did meet with one and did some shooting with her.

My inspirations:

Lisa Elmaleh: I really like her portraits in her American Folk series. I love this one in particular. She has a sort of softness in her work that I appreciate. Her subject in this portrait shows a lot of gracefulness. It is like her spirit comes through in this picture, and I see a quiet and at peace spirit in this. Those emotions are amazing, and take a special intimacy between a photographer and their subject, to capture.
Deb Schwedhelm: "Whispers from the Sea" is a beautiful series. She's another artist that does a great job at capturing a soft, peacefulness with her images. The angles and natural lightening work well with this series.
Brandon Thibodeaux: The way he captures light and details in his work is very eye-catching to me.
Arturo Soto: He doesn't inspire me for this particular body of work I'm doing now, but in general his landscapes, especially this one, is very inspiring. It has always been a battle with me to capture landscapes. I wouldn't know what to put in the frame, where to photograph, but the simplicity of this photograph speaks volumes. I love this! This just gives me motivation not to give up on getting the hang of that particular part in my work.
