The Reveal-
As a group of 13 artists, we have a timeline of ideas that range from paintings of a small thought to a post apocalyptic universe. Others juxtapose old versus new through typography; while some use photography to narrate the basic human statuses in society. We want to exude strength and illustrate our opinions as designers and crafters. As artists, we use our perception on the world to communicate our concepts. We feel that our ideas have not been recognized until we have been Revealed.
The Reveal is an unearthing that uproots the masked hypothesis of our creations, a grandstand that exposes the legitimacy of our craft .An uncovering that means we no longer have to hide behind the public eye; to show what we have learned and who we are as artists.
An unveiling that will bring us to the final stages of secrecy to exposing our refined techniques as successful creators. It is the unveiling of something amazing that cannot be explained. An exhibition that will display everything that we have worked years to perfect
The Reveal- the beginning of the end. The start of an extraordinary final scene. Raise the curtains!
People comments please!!!!
ReplyDeleteJust a suggestion: where the last line says "The start of an extraordinary final scene," how about "The start of the next extraordinary act"? Never mind. I like it the way it is.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing i see is a period in the wrong place, "craft .An" other than that I love it! You put a lot of work into writing this and it shows.
ReplyDeleteWhitney can you stay after class and go over this with me?

ReplyDeleteI definitely like the line "We feel that our ideas have not been recognized until we have been Revealed." I am not sure about the line "An unveiling that will bring us to the final stages of secrecy to exposing our refined techniques as successful creators." More specifically "the final stages of secrecy." The whole paragraph is about revealing and then this sentence makes seems "The Reveal" will further develop our secrecy and obscurity. Maybe reword it to "An unveiling that will bring us from obscurity to exposing our refined techniques as successful creators."
ReplyDeleteThe artist statement is over all powerful, I enjoyed reading it. You did a great job on it and I know you put a lot of time and effort into it. My only suggestion is to maybe "dumb it down" on certain words. I'm not sure if the public audience or in other words the average person may understand for example what "juxtapose or typography" might mean. I don't know who our target audience so this is just an opinion I figured. If our audience is the average person they may struggle with larger words.
ReplyDeleteThis may look like a lot but I promise, I just took your words and moved them around more than anything else! I love the overall message behind the statement and I feel that it captions our group extremely well.

“TIMELINE of ideas” doesn’t really make much sense. Maybe, “…we have a range of ideas from paintings of a small thought to a post-catastrophic Earth.”
“Others Juxtapose old versus new through typography;” doesn’t quite read right and I would lose the semicolon by replacing it with a comma.
“basic human statuses in society.” Perhaps,” basic human status in society”, would read better.
“We want to exude…” That entire sentence might need to be reworded but I completely agree with the meaning behind it.
“…our perception on the world…” Maybe, “ As artists, we communicate our perceptions of the world through our artistic concepts.”
“We feel that our ideas…” –“Our ideas are not recognized until there is a reveal “?
“Unearthing that uproots”—this becomes redundant as both words mean the same thing. Maybe, “The Reveal is an unearthing of a seemingly masked hypothesis that exposes the legitimacy of our different crafts. It is an uncovering that means that we no longer need to shield ourselves from the public eye. The Reveal allows us to proudly display ourselves as we are as artists.”
For the last line? “The Reveal is our unveiling that brings us to the final stage of exposing our refined techniques as successful creators.”
I would knock out, “ It is the unveiling of something amazing that cannot be explained. An exhibition that will display everything that we have worked years to perfect”
