My first large-scale painting is done for now. I will allow it to sit until completely dry so that i may glaze finishing details. Below is a photograph of the sketch for my fourth painting. It depicts my sister reaching back to me and my hands (reflected in a mirror) will be painted near the bottom. I know what I am painting for the third one, but I have not sketched it out yet. I skipped right ahead to my sis (below):
DRAWING/PRINT
I have completed my design for the fourth lithograph. I am very excited about this one and i hope it turns out well. I am basing this image of my sister on Atlas who carried the world on his shoulders.
My sister would like for me to remove her "waddle" but we inherited this waddle from our father and I refuse to "photoshop".
This week I hope to make significant progess to painting #2 and purchase the wood I will need to construct stretcher bars to stretch canvas for my next two paintings. I will also grind down my stone today to start drawing the next lithograph.
CONTEMPORARY ARTIST
I have always admired Jenny Saville. She is a contemporary painter who despite using traditional methods, reinvented figure painting. She does largescale paintings of nude women. I love her brush strokes. Her paintings are realistic but still painterly.
